Home Remedies for Cancer
What you eat has a direct impact on your health. While some foods can increase the risks of developing certain diseases, others can reduce the risk of chronic diseases such as cancer and diabetes. The effects and occurrence of cancer, in particular, are directly affected by a person’s diet. There are many foods that contain compounds that can have negative effects on the development of cancer. Moreover, studies have found a link between the intake of certain foods and a lowered risk of cancer.
Some of the foods that can be used as cancer home remedies to reduce the risk of cancer are:
1. Carrots
There have been several studies that have found that eating carrots lowers the risk of cancer. In fact, the results of five studies showed that eating carrots may lower the chances of stomach cancer by up to 26%. Similarly, findings of another study confirmed the link between carrots and the reduced risk of prostate cancer.
2. Broccoli
Broccoli is a rich source of sulforaphane, a compound that may contain potential anticancer properties. This compound is found in cruciferous vegetables. To back this, a test-tube study showed how sulforaphane lowered the size and count of breast cancer cells by 75%. Another study conducted on animals showed that sulforaphane successfully killed prostate cancer cells in mice. Intake of this compound was also able to bring down the count of tumors by over 50%.
3. Beans
Beans are loaded with fiber and several studies have found that fiber protects against colorectal cancer. The findings of a study that was conducted on 1905 people who had a history of colorectal cancer showed that the intake of dried and cooked beans lowered the risk of colorectal tumor development.
4. Berries
Anthocyanins, a pigment found in plants, are loaded with antioxidant properties and could be linked with lowered chances of cancer; they are found in high quantities in berries. A study conducted on 25 colorectal cancer patients showed how the intake of bilberry extract for seven days reduced the development of cancer cells by 7%.
5. Cinnamon
The health benefits of cinnamon are plenty. In addition to reducing blood sugar levels in the body, the consumption of cinnamon can also reduce the risk of cancer. Test-tube and some studies conducted on animals showed how the intake of cinnamon could reduce the spread of cancer cells.
6. Nuts
Findings of research have associated the consumption of nuts with reduced risk of some types of cancer. In a study conducted on the dietary habits of 19386 people, it was found that the intake of nuts was able to decrease the chances of cancer fatalities. Another study, which proved nuts to be an effective cancer home remedy, was conducted for 30 years on 30708 participants. The findings of this study showed that eating nuts could decrease the chances of pancreatic and colorectal cancers.
